Although the ad copy says these will work as running/brake lights, and as a direct replacement for the 3157 bulb, in my case, with a 2001 Saturn, that's not the case. What I found as soon as I plugged it in was smoke from the LED because the internal resistor burns up. The lower but not zero voltage on the brake wire lead when the running lights are on causes it. It's only a few volts less but that's enough to smoke the resistor.I took the light apart, replaced the burned out resistor and added a diode to the stop (brake) wire (the one without a resistor). Although adding the diode could have been done to the cars wiring right at the socket, I didn't think of that until I'd already modified the LED lights.These LEDs are not as bright as incandescent though I doubt I'll be pulled over. Because they're so dim, I'm now debating whether or not to leave the up high stop light assembly in the back window alone or change them out in favor of LEDs as well.My factiry halogen bulbs were brighter than these things. Took them out right away. Not bright at all.I installed them easily as my day time running lights on my 2004 silverado. They have been working fine for 2 months so far.So I bought 2 packages of these, 4 bulbs total, one stopped working the next day and broke removing it from its fixture. They are not very bright, at least not as bright as the old standard bulbs they replaced. I was really hoping these would be a great value for the new taillights I had to replaced in My Pontiac Grand Prix SE 1999, and are Led except for the tiny side marker and backup lights.Let's just say I probably will not be buying them again.. Mom always said:"if you got nothing nice to say, don't say nothing at all" .Not the brightest led bulbs. Started to flicker after a few months.Nice white light, but not bright enough for reverse lights. Will have to go back to the original and order different 3157 leds.The light bulbs seem be bright enough. Only time will confirm their hours of function.
